Family-Based Therapy for Children & Adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa

Part of the Brook Lane Services Continuing Education Series

Family-Based Treatment (FBT) has proven to be an effective model in the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa in children and adolescents. For child and adolescent patients, empowering the family to help combat the eating disorder can lead to higher recovery rates and less risk for relapse. Dr. Moran, licensed clinical psychologist serving adolescents, adults and families in the outpatient department at The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt, will present the “Maudsley” approach to eating disorder treatment. The background, theory and application of FBT will be discussed as well as strategies for including the family into the treatment process.
